Animal Control

Municipal Law Enforcement Services include Canine Animal Control, helping to ensure that our residents and visitors enjoy our community.

We help to ensure that owners take responsibility for their dogs' actions and ensure they are a positive addition to our neighbourhoods.

Licencing of Dogs in The Blue Mountains:

On becoming a dog owner, or on or before March 15th every year, each dog must be registered with the Animal Control Officer, pay the fee and procure a metal dog tag showing the serial number and year of issue.

With the completed application, the owner shall produce a certificate signed by a practicing veterinarian that the dog has received its anti-rabies vaccine inoculation within a period of 12 months prior to date of application.

With the completed application of initial licence, the owner shall produce proof that dog has been neutered or spayed, otherwise non-neutered or non-spayed dog licence fees apply.

All dog tag records are retained by the Town’s Animal Control Officer.

All dog licences expire on the 31st day of March in the year after issue.
