CEO, BLUE MOUNTAINS PUBLIC LIBRARY

The Blue Mountains Public Library provides a range of programs, services and progressive technologies for residents and visitors in the beautiful Town of Blue Mountains. The Town of Blue Mountains, encompasses the town of Thornbury, as well as the villages of Craigleith, Ravenna, Kolapore, Victoria Corners, Heathcote and a number of others. Located on the south shores of Georgian Bay between Collingwood and Owen Sound, with the beautiful mountains and the Niagara Escarpment as our backdrop, the Blue Mountains is a true four-season community. As such we continue to attract a growing population of permanent residents and year-round visitors who enjoy our enviable lifestyle.

The Blue Mountains Public Library
  
Our Public Library celebrates culture, welcomes diversity, and inspires curiosity, discovery, learning and creativity through two physical sites, as well as through technology. The L.E. Shore Memorial Library   in beautiful downtown Thornbury, also houses an Art Gallery. The Craigleith Heritage Depot, on the shores of Georgian Bay at Craigleith houses our lovely Museum and provides additional library services. Our professional staff, extensive collection and technology offerings, continue to evolve to meet the growing needs of our community.

We are seeking a CEO who will champion the operation and evolution of our library by working collaboratively with our Board, staff, customers and community stakeholders to lead us into the future, striving for excellence in the provision of 21st century services.

Qualifications and Attributes:

The successful candidate will hold a Masters Degree in Library and Information Studies/Science (MLIS), or equivalent from an accredited University, and have proven successful experience as a public library CEO. The candidate will hold a valid Ontario drivers license, and provide a police criminal record check completed within the past two years.

The candidate will also possess the critical superior interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence required to effectively manage, motivate and mentor staff, connect with community stakeholders, and work together with the Library Board to achieve goals. Excellent skills with progressive technologies and an understanding of current trends in library service are an asset.

The candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, and provide evidence of ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as per the Public Libraries Act and the Job Description. (see link below)

Key Duties/Responsibilities:

The CEO will have responsibility for general supervision over and direction of the operations and staff of the L.E. Shore Memorial Library and Craigleith Heritage Depot as per the Public Libraries Act, Ontario, and will be accountable to the Blue Mountains Public Library Board for compliance with the Act, our policies, procedures and bylaws, and all provincial and federal legislation applicable to the Library, including but not limited to ESA, OHSA, ODA and OHRC.


Compensation/Employment Details:

Hours: 35 hours per week; flexibility to schedule to accommodate evening and weekend work
Overtime: Does not apply

Salary Range:  $86,798.27 - $106,575.27 commensurate with experience

Relocation Assistance will be considered.
