Position Description:

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Water and Wastewater Services the Locate Technician is responsible for accurately locating all underground works associated with the Town’s infrastructure. The Locate Technician will utilize infrastrucure knowledge to assist with the development and implementation of the Town’s Asset Management Program by building accurate and current records of the Town’s infrastructure. Perform physical locates and inspections of all buried works associated with the Town’s infrastructure, including water, wastewater, stormwater and streetlight wiring within the legislated timeframe. The Locate Technician will be responsible for producing accurate drawings for all locates executed. The Locate Technician will coordinate with the Water & Wastewater Administrative Assistant with regards to completed locates to ensure locates are forwarded to requester.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Required 2 year post secondary diploma in a related field
  • Minimum 1 year experience in related field
  • Completed or able to complete CSA Z462 – Arc Flash & Shock Training
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite, GIS software including CityView, and CityWorks program
  • Ability to work independently required
  • Good working knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, including the regulations related to construction projects and the Underground Infrastructure Notification System Act
  • Physical ability to perform the tasks of frequent crouching, kneeling, walking over mixed terrain, digging with shovel as required, exposed to elements in all weather conditions.

Salary: $45,831 - $56,268 (2018 Rate)
