Position Description:

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager of Building Services/Chief Building Official the Permits & Inspection Assistant accepts and process permit applications and to coordinate permit and inspection services for the Town’s Ontario Building Code Program, including the provision of advice to the public related to the building permit process, general zoning information. Provide administrative support services for the Ontario Building Code Program including the permit application and issuance processes and the front counter and reception functions. Assist with maintaining the project/property management system (CityView) with regard to Building & By-law Services needs. Receive and schedule building related inspections.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abiliites:

  • Requires  post-secondary  education  in  office  administration  or  political  science  -  2  year diploma
  • Completion  of  Ministry  of  Municipal  Affairs  &  Housing  Courses/Programs  related  to “General Legal/Process” and Part 9: House., preferred or wiling to  obtain
  • Minimum  of 5 years experience in a municipal administration environment  and/or a directly related construction trade
  • Requires at least one to two years’ experience in dealing with the public
  • Must have good organizational skills to maintain records and ensure work is completed in a timely manner
  • Word processing, spreadsheet and database computer skills required
  • Responsible for the basic care and proper usage of office equipment

Salary: $45,128 - $55,418 (2018 Rate)
