Position Description:

Position Overview:  
Reporting to the Supervisor of Wastewater Services the Summer Student will assist with repairs and preventative maintenance on Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection facilities as required by Town policies and in accordance with Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change Regulations and Certificates of Approval(s).  All work shall be performed under the direction of a licensed operator. Duties include assisting Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators in maintenance and operation of all treatment plants and collection system equipment. Performing a variety of custodial duties, such as window cleaning, floor maintenance and cleaning of equipment. Students will also assist with chamber maintenance - locating, mapping and cleaning.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
• Minimum one year work experience in a team environment
• Currently enrolled in a postsecondary institution in a related field
• Aptitude in machinery and vehicle operation and maintenance
• Ability to foster good working and interpersonal communications
• Required to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects up to 50 pounds without assistance
• Required to stand, sit or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire shift
• Required to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pulling
• Required to move over sloping, uneven or slippery surfaces
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred
• Valid Ontario driver’s license

Hourly Salary Range: $14.20 - $17.26 (2018 Rate)
