Circular Economy

Circular Economy activities can include maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling and composting. Broadly, a circular economy tackles climate change and other global challenges, like biodiversity loss, waste and pollution, by decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources.

The Town’s sustainability plan, TBM Future Story, includes Bold Action 14: Develop a Circular Economy Recommendations Report. A Circular Economy Project to develop this report took place in 2024, and further work to implement the opportunities are ongoing and will be led by the Town and/or local businesses, agriculture and non-profit organizations.

In 2024, the Town worked with consultant MJ Waste Solutions and heard from local stakeholders in business, agriculture and non-profit sectors to identify opportunities for organizations in the community to reduce and divert waste, and to find collaborative waste solutions. The final Circular Economy Opportunities Report was received by Council in late 2024.
