Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability Strategy

The Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability Strategy (PUDS) is the third report of the Town of The Blue Mountains Community Improvement Plan (CIP) process. The first report, the “Background Report”, was finalized in June 2009. The second report, the “Interim Report”, was finalized in October of 2009.

The primary role of this PUDS report is to outline the planning and urban design framework and sustainable design principles that will guide private sector development and redevelopment and public sector improvement projects within the Community Improvement project area.

This Strategy focuses on three inter-related components: land use, urban design and sustainability. It builds on the existing policy direction identified in the other reports.

Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan

The Blue Mountains is on a path toward a wealthy and sustainable future. As part of this exciting process, the Town has developed an Economic Development Strategy, "Red Hot and Blue",  to provide a 50-year Vision, Goals, Strategies and Actions for The Blue Mountains. This Strategy will guide the Town in working toward economic success, directly dependent on our community values, natural environment and geographic location.

Also, the communities of The Blue Mountains, Collingwood, Clearview and Wasaga Beach recently completed a Regional Economic Development Strategy for the Region of South Georgian Bay.  This Strategy is a complement to "Red Hot and Blue" and provides a framework for all four communities to work together and share resources on economic development activities of mutual interest.

As part of our commitment to engage the community in local government, we encourage you to read the  Economic Development Strategy and Actions Plans below.
