A new Ontario Government hotline will help match people with a doctor in their area that has an open practice and is willing to take on new patients. Telehealth Ontario staffer will take down a health history and pass it on to a nurse. Priority is given to people with greater health needs. This is decided based on an established clinical process. You will be referred to a family health care provider as soon as one becomes available. There is no time guarantee.

An agreement between the Ministry and the Ontario Medical Association includes a shared commitment to help find a doctor for individuals without a family physician. The commitment is the driving force behind a new program that will connect patients with family health care providers who are taking on new patients. Health care professionals in each of the 14 Local Health Integration Networks will connect people with appropriate health care providers in their community. The program was launched in February, 2009.

Residents may also recycle electronic and computer equipment. The tipping rate is $100.00/tonne twice the set fee will be charged to unsorted loads and half the set fee will be given to loads of scrap metal, yard waste, wood waste. Youths admitted to this program must have a history of psychiatric difficulties, fail to function in their home community, and may have a history of anti-social behaviour. A service club with a long history, since 1938, of humanitarian work, both here in our home community and overseas, Thornbury-Clarksburg Rotary supports many worthwhile causes. In addition to ongoing support of Beaver Valley Outreach, Camp Quality and My Friend's House, the club has recently undertaken local projects which include a new cabin and a tent at Owen Sound Rotary's Camp Presqu'ile, north of Owen Sound, support for Georgian Bay Animal Rescue Centre, Primary Literacy support at Beaver Valley Community School and. The club also has made a $100,000 commitment to the new Family Health Centres in Meaford and Thornbury.

Recent international projects include a drinking water project in Jamaica, and a Maternity Mortality Program in Uganda. T-C Rotary is also an active and enthusiastic supporter of Rotary International programs such as Group Study Exchange and Rotary Youth Exchange.

The club's main fundraisers include The Blue Mountains Chili Cookoff, the Dinner-of-the-Month program and the annual T-C Rotary Golf Tournament in support of the club's $150,000 commitment to Meaford Hospital Foundation. Another major fundraiser is the tent, table and chair rental program. Check the website for more details and contact information about all of these programs.

Organization whose goals are to provide support and social gatherings to veterans and their families, and to the community. Hold monthly euchre parties the last Sunday September-June. Annual events include a Euchre Tournament in April and October. Annual Poppy campaign is held the first two weeks in November, activities included are; tag days; a parade to the cenotaph on Remembrance Day, November 11, followed by a service at the Beaver Valley Community Hall. Proceeds from the Poppy campaign are used to assist ex-veterans and their families, bursaries for education, literacy and poster contest prizes. Also have an ex-personnel and dependents program, usually four times a year by appointment, where someone visits to answer government and veterans financial concerns.

Telehealth Ontario is a free, confidential telephone health line you can call to get health advice or general health information from a Registered Nurse. That means quick, easy access to a qualified health professional, who can assess your symptoms and help you decide your best first step. We can help you decide whether to care for yourself, make an appointment with your doctor, go to a clinic, contact a community service or go to a hospital emergency room. When you call Telehealth Ontario, you will be talking directly with a Registered Nurse. You do not need an OHIP number to use this service. You will be asked to describe your symptoms and answer questions to best assess the seriousness of the problem. Based on the assessment, the Registered Nurse can either advise self care, recommend a visit to a health practitioner or, give you the phone numbers of community resources nearest you. A call to Telehealth Ontario will give you confidential advice about any health-related concerns such as : Symptoms that could require medical attention; Illness or injury; Chronic illnesses; Nutrition and healthy lifestyles; Teen health and lifestyle issues. A call to Telehealth Ontario does not replace 911 -- that's always the first number you should call in emergency situations.
