Emergency Services
Emergency Services in The Blue Mountains ensure public safety by addressing different emergencies. Our core Emergency Services include The Blue Mountains Fire and Rescue Services, the Ontario Provincial Police and Grey County Emergency Medical Service.
The Blue Mountains Fire and Rescue Services
The Blue Mountains Fire Department provides Fire Services, Fire Prevention and Emergency Preparedness for The Blue Mountains. For more information, please visit their web page at www.thebluemountains.ca/fire-services.cfm.
Ontario Provincial Police
The Ontario Provincial Police provides law enforcement and policing services for The Blue Mountains. For more information, please visit their website at www.opp.ca/Community/index.htm.
Grey County Emergency Medical Service
Grey County Emergency Medical Service provides land ambulance service for The Blue Mountains. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.grey.ca/health-social-services/land-ambulance-ems/
Public Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs)
As part of the Grey County Public Access Defibrillation Program, the Town has four AEDs located within The Blue Mountains:
- The L.E. Shore Memorial Library
- Town Hall
- The Beaver Valley Community Centre Arena
- The Thornbury Harbour
These are available for use by staff and the public.
In the past, only select first responders carried AEDs to defibrillate a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. Because most EMS response times do not meet the 3 to 4 minute window of opportunity, AEDs have become extremely important in an effort to save the lives of residents, employees and visitors of any given community.
The four AEDs located in our community were generously donated by the Mikey Network.
If you have an emergency, please contact 9-1-1.
