Festive Ride Program Kicking Off in Collingwood Nov 24th

This is a reminder to drive safely, share the road, and to have a plan to get home safely if you are drug or alcohol impaired.

(COLLINGWOOD, ON) - Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be hosting a 2017 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) kick off in Collingwood.

The 2017 Festive RIDE kickoff will take place on Pretty River Parkway in the area of Ronell Crescent in Collingwood on November 24 2017 starting at 10am. Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains OPP detachment will set up a RIDE spot check at this location to mark the beginning of the festive RIDE for 2017 in Collingwood.

Taking part in this initiative will be our detachment commander, OPP Inspector Mary Shannon and Collingwood OPP Staff Sergeant Terry Ward.

Media partners are invited to attend, take photos of officers at the RIDE check and help spread the word on the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

While the OPP does increase their R.I.D.E. checks over the holidays, motorists are reminded that R.I.D.E.checks are carried out throughout the year across the province.
