(COLLINGWOOD, ON) - Members of the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) hosted a fundraising event on November 16th for the United Way of Simcoe Muskoka.

The spaghetti lunch fundraiser took place at the Collingwood OPP detachment where members from many different community resources and services attended and helped raise funds for the United Way of Simcoe Muskoka.

Established in 1949, United Way Simcoe Muskoka supports agencies that provide services to strengthen individuals, families and communities; and collaborates with community partners to eliminate systemic barriers to healthy, safe and independent lives.

The donations from all that attended this event, which totalled over $1000, will help the United Way continue with their great work in improving lives and building stronger communities.

Also during this event, the United Way of Simcoe Muskoka presented a cheque for $37,500 which will go towards the OPP Mental Health Response Unit for the Collingwood/The Blue Mountains OPP and Huronia West OPP.
