Curling Returns to Beaver Valley Arena, Easter Weekend 2018!!

01/12/17

Curling, Canada’s great winter pastime –  is returning to the Town of Blue Mountains with a kick-off event on Easter Weekend in March 2018. Curling times and lessons will be offered to students, groups, and individuals.

Following a successful Beaver Valley Rocks curling event held in April 2014, a steering committee of the newly formed non profit Blue Mountains Curling Centre has been working with Town Recreation staff and a lot has been accomplished already.

  • The group has been granted Probationary Membership in the Ontario Curling Association
  • Ice time has been arranged with the Town at the Beaver Valley Arena for the kick-off event at the end of March and for a number of weekends in the 2018/2019 season
  • Training for arena staff to change regular ice to curling ice is also in place

With the high costs of managing a curling facility and ice time available at the arena, there is a great opportunity to work with Town staff to find a way to organize local curling events going forward. We hope the community can come together to help support this initiative.

The committee is looking for volunteers to work together with us to create a viable local curling program. Information will be posted on the website www.bluemountainscurling.ca as we move forward, or call 519-599-3345 for more information.
