The Blue Mountains is committed to supporting an active community.  A number of programs are offered year round and are operated by various groups and individuals throughout the community.  These listings are offered as an information resource to the community. Business and community clubs are free to request inclusion in these listings which are updated twice yearly.  The Town may not endorse specific businesses and clubs, and is therefore not able to provide specific recommendations or information. However, we have included web links and other contact information so that you may contact the business directly for program and registration information.  Some of the programs currently being offered include:

ARTS & MUSIC

Brenda Beattie Music

COOKING & HEALTH

Plantlicious

Provides nutritional counselling and coaching (One-one-One or in small groups),

CRAFTS

Creative Memories & Heritage Makers

Offering 1, 2 and 3 day scrapbooking and album making workshops at the Ravenna Hall from 9am to 6pm.  Lunch and snacks are included.  Participants bring their products and photos for time to work on their cherished photo memories.  The workshops include instruction as well as the use of necessary tools.  Additional supplies are available for purchase.  For more information contact Sylvia McMurchy at 519-599-5785 or email sylviacmc2@xplornet.com

DANCE & FITNESS

Blue Yoga

Offers a variety of yoga classes including gentle stretch, Hatha and prenatal.  Classes are offered Wednesdays at the Ravenna Hall. 

11:15 am - 12:30 pm Gentle Stretch.  Open up your body, breath and mind with gentle yoga stretches including some restorative poses.  All levels. 

6:30 - 7:45 pm Intermediate Hatha Yoga.  This class is a blend of yoga styles for intermediate or continuing students and incorporates strength and stretch poses as well as breathing techniques.

Inner Journey

Joanne Pineau, HBSc., E-RYT500, Certified Yoga Instructor offers the following:

1. The Essential Low Back Program.  A complete rebuilding program for your back.  Clinically proven to relieve pain and restore health in 2 studies funded by the National Institute of Health.  Offered privately or in small groups in my home studio.  No yoga experience necessary.  Adaptable to your size and condition.

2. Learn how to Quiet the Mind and Relax the Body.  A 5 week course offered intermittenly throughout the year in my home studio.  Each class includes a brief discussion, meditation and breathing techniques, simple stretches and a guided relaxation.  Option to sit in a chair or lay on a mat on the floor.

Walking Group

Meets in the Large Hall at the Beaver Valley Community Centre Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 11:00am to walk in a climate controlled setting. No preregistration or participation fee required. For more information, please contact the Town at 519-599-3131 ext. 254

Two The Core

Two The Core is a class based fitness stuido and muti-discipline health centre servicing a variety of populations. Group fitness classes include: Spin, Strength & Conditioning, Pilates, Yoga, Barre, SUP and more. We also offer private training sessions as well as professional therapies such as Physiotherapy and Registered Massgae Therapy. Unleashed Tours

Unleashed Tours is on a mission to get everyone (and their dogs!) off the grid and on the beaten path. Escape to nature on some of the best trails Southern Georgian Bay has to offer. As your local trail ambassador Unleashed Tours will show you the best spots to soak up our True North beauty! We provide dog friendly guided hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country ski tours. SAILING

Sail Georgian Bay

Offers sailing lessons in the Meaford Harbour for youth ages 8 – 18. The full day week long sessions run from June 29 to August 21, 2015.  Race Night is Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm for the first 6 weeks with a Regatta on August 8 for all students.  We use the CANSail curriculum developed by Sail Canada and our instructors are all certified by Ontario Sailing.  New this year – Adult Learn to Sail program offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 pm starting July 7.  For more information please visit www.sailgeorgianbay.ca or email us at sailgeorgianbay@gmail.com

Blue Mountain Soccer Club

CN Future Link Camps (Golf)

Offers a variety of golfing instruction programming at the Tomahawk Golf Course for youth aged 3 to 18.  For more information email academy@georgianbayclub.com.  

Pickle Ball Club

This sport was introduced to the Beaver Valley Community Centre in March 2014.  It was an instant success and grew very quickly into a club for adults with a current membership of approximately 90 people.  There are 2 indoor courts that are used for play Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  For more information visit www.pickleballthornbury.com

Tennis North
