Security Alarm Registrations

Security alarm systems within The Blue Mountains are required to be registered with the municipality.

The purpose of the Security Alarm Registration is to establish a system and procedure that will result in the reduction of OPP false alarm dispatches related to security alarms in the Town of The Blue Mountains.

Registration fees are required to be paid to the municipality for the purposes of compiling and maintaining a Security Alarm Registration System.

A system of warnings, fees and possible suspension of Police dispatch are implemented in the instances of false dispatches.

Fees

Residential Registration: $25.00 (per 3 year period)

Commercial Registration: $50.00 (per 3 year period)

Change of Ownership: Same as registration fee

False Alarm #1 in a 365 day period: $0.00

False Alarm #2: $50.00

False Alarm #3: $100.00

Duration and Renewal of Alarm Registration

A security alarm registration expires three years from the date of issuance. To renew your registration, submit an updated application by downloading and completing the security alarm registration application form located on the right-hand-side of this page
Return the completed application and renewal fee to the Security Alarm Coordinator as noted on the application.

Please note that the Security Alarm Coordinator will notify each alarm holder sixty days prior to the expiration of his/her alarm registration.

Confidentiality

Information collected for the purposes of the Security Alarm By-law shall be governed by the provisions of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
