Our Town Hall Site

The existing Town Hall (pictured on the right) was constructed in 1984 and was originally occupied by the Town of Thornbury, Thornbury PUC and the Thornbury-Meaford Police. Upon amalgamation in 1998, the building was altered to accommodate staff of the new municipality and continued to house the Police and PUC.

The old Town Hall and the associated office complex housed 54 employees which was more than the building could reasonably accommodate. Due to space constraints Council could no longer meet at Town Hall.  As well, significant accessibility barriers existed with respect to gaining access to the old Town Hall building and services within the building.

For these reasons, a new Town Hall was constructed.  In addition, the New Town Hall was designed with the goal of opening up more space for the community to gather, meet and to be an instrumental component of the local government engagement and decision-making process.
