Notice of Public Information Centre - Peel Street Preliminary Engineering

Dates: June 12, 2019 (6:30pm to 8:30pm) and June 15, 2019 (9:30am to 11:30am)
The formal presentation will begin at 7:00pm on June 12th and 10:00am on June 15th.

This important meeting will be held to review the proposed options for the reconstruction of Peel Street between Hwy 26 and Georgian Bay, host a question and answer period and receive comments from the public.

A PIC is an informal open house with Town Staff and Consultants. For the purposes of this PIC, Staff and Consultants will be offering information to you about the progress of design options for Peel Street’s reconstruction. Both Staff and Consultants will be pleased to discuss and answer any questions you may have about the options for reconstruction of Peel Street.

The Council of The Corporation of The Town of The Blue Mountains passed Development Charge By-law No. 2019-17 on the 24th day of April 2019.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of The Town of The Blue Mountains passed Development Charge By-law No. 2019-17 on the 24th day of April 2019, under Section 2 of the Development Charges Act, 1997.

AND TAKE NOTICE that any person or organization may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal under Section 14 of the Act, in respect of the Development Charges By-law, by filing with the Clerk of the Town of The Blue Mountains no later than Monday, June 3rd, 2019, a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the By-law and the reasons supporting the objection. A processing fee will be payable to The Blue Mountains Clerk’s Office with the appeal application. The appellant is advised to contact the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal to access required forms and applicable Provincial fees.

The charges in the aforementioned By-law will apply to all new residential and non-residential development, subject to certain terms, conditions and limited exemptions as identified therein. Town-wide development charges are levied against new development to pay for the increased capital costs related to the provision of municipal services such as General Government, Public Library, Fire Services, Police Department, Parks and Recreation, Public Works, Parking and By-law, Solid Waste, Town-wide Roads and Related services. A distinct Roads and Related charge has been calculated for the Castle Glen service area, as the needs attributable to development in this area are unique.

Rates imposed for the Service Areas of Craigleith, Castle Glen, Osler, Thornbury East, Thornbury West, Clarksburg, Lora Bay (SA1, SA2 and SA3), Camperdown and Swiss Meadows are related to the provision of Water and Sanitary Sewer services. Schedules 1 to 4 set out the residential and non-residential development charge rates applicable throughout the Town by service area. Map 1 delineates all applicable Service Areas within the Town in which the area-specific charges are applied.

The development charges imposed under the By-law come into effect on April 24th, 2019. Copies of the complete Development Charge By-law are available for examination during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) in the offices of the municipality located at 32 Mill Street Thornbury, ON and on the website at www.thebluemountains.ca. The Town of The Blue Mountains Council will hold a Public Meeting to receive comments on the proposed changes to the Town Special Event By-law 2013-39. The Special Event By-law sets out the rules that regulate special events taking place within the Town of The Blue Mountains.

Staff Report CSPW.19.011 “Updates to the Town’s Special Event Bylaw 2013-39” provides additional information regarding the proposed changes.

Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of The Blue Mountains, at its regularly scheduled Council Meeting on June 3, 2019, intends to adopt a new Special Event By-law and repeal the previous Special Event By-law 2013-39.

Meeting Cancelled- Please note that the rescheduled public meeting for Windfall Phase 4, 5 & 6 has been cancelled at the request of the developer. The meeting will be rescheduled and posted to the Town website.

The County and Town are seeking input on development applications within 120 metres of your property that propose to enable the planned development of 145 single detached and 262 semi-detached dwelling units in Phase 4, 5 and 6 at the Windfall community.  The proposed development represents an overall increase from the permitted 609 units in the Windfall community to 680 units.  (Increase of 71 additional units).  The proposed increase in total units does not create any additional lots.  The additional units are created by increasing the ratio of semi-detached units to single detached units.
