Substandard Watermain Replacement

The Town of The Blue Mountains has identified thirteen sections of watermain that have been classified as substandard and require upgrade. Engineering Services have been completed and the intent of the Substandard Watermain Replacement Program is to begin Phase 1 construction in 2021. Phase 2 construction will follow in 2023.
Four areas have been identified by Town staff as part of Phase 1 for Construction in 2021. These areas are:
- Wellington Street South in Thornbury between Louisa Street East and Arthur Street East
- Lansdowne Street North in Thornbury at Bay Street West
- Arthur Street East in Thornbury from McAuley Street South to Elgin Street South
- Napier Street East in Thornbury from Bruce Street South to Russell Street East
- Watermain replacement was to be completed between Fraser Crescent and Blue Mountain Drive in 2021 but has been rescheduled to 2022
Phase 1 work is to commence no sooner than May 17, 2021 with work to be substantially completed by October 30, 2021 and all restoration finished no later than November 27, 2021.
Why Now?
The project will improve water movement, firewater flow, reduce opportunities of stagnant water, increase water quality, and provide operational savings.
