Recently, the United States has threatened to impose tariffs on Canadian goods. In light of this, governments across Canada, including the Town of The Blue Mountains, are urging everyone to unite and prioritize buying Ontario and Canadian products.

Get Involved

Canadians are being asked, wherever possible, to buy Ontario and Canadian goods, products and services. Here are things that we can all do to support our local and country-wide economy:

  • Purchasing items with “Made in Canada”, “Product of Canada” or "Made in Grey" labels
  • Shopping at locally-owned Canadian businesses
  • Securing supplies from Canadian vendors
  • Choose to vacation within Canada

Product Labels

According to Competition Bureau Canada:

  • Product of Canada: At least 98% of the product contains Canadian ingredients and materials
  • Made in Canada: At least 51% of the product is made in Canada in our factories and businesses

Local Business Support

The Town of The Blue Mountains is working together Grey County and local business associations to actively monitor the current situation. The Town is committed to collectively supporting our local business community, including all key economic sectors.

The Town's Economic Development team is participating in federal, provincial, and industry-led sessions and maintaining contact with neighbouring Counties across Western Ontario to gather insights and information. The Western Ontario Warden's Caucus has also developed a survey for businesses owners to share details about how tariffs will impact their operations. It can be found below.
