2. Site Plan
This project will refurbish a 20 year old vehicle scale and add a second scale on the opposite side of the existing scale house. This will provide improved traffic management and reduce wait times for patrons entering and leaving the site.
The scale house will receive upgrades to the building envelope, windows and doors, HVAC and septic system reconfiguration. Improvements will also add renewables to the scale house to improve climate mitigation and resilience. Improved insulation and the installation of more efficient heating and cooling will reduce energy use and make the building more comfortable for occupants. The project will also collaborate with Pollinate TBM to include pollinator landscaping between the twin scales and around the house.
Why Now?
Landfill use has increased to more than 30,000 visits per year and generated longer wait times. The second scale will provide improved traffic flow with separate entrance and exit scales. Retrofitting the existing building will avoid the cost of full replacement and improve the useful life of this existing Town asset. Increasing and improving access to the Depot will support diversion efforts. Approximately 48% of waste delivered to the Depot was diverted from landfill in 2025.
