Author Talk & Exhibit Opening: Daughters of Aatenstic

The L.E. Shore Library, Craigleith Heritage Depot, and the Gallery at L.E. Shore are proud to welcome author Kathryn Magee Labelle and artist Catherine Tàmmaro in celebration of the book Daughters of Aatenstic: Life Lessons from Seven Generations.

Kathryn Labelle’s book Daughters of Aataentsic shares the powerful life stories of seven Wendat/waⁿdat women across seven generations. Spanning centuries and borders—from Ontario and Quebec to Kansas and Oklahoma—the book highlights how these women preserved culture, resisted colonialism, and shaped their communities.

Developed in conversation with these stories, Wyandot/Italian multidisciplinary artist Catherine Tàmmaro offers a compelling visual exploration of Wendat/waⁿda matriarchal history through her exhibition Yaaʔtayęhtsih yayǫmęʔah

Together, these two contrasting mediums of text and art present a rich, layered narrative of Wendat/waⁿdat history and culture.
