This program aims to empower parents, educators, and individuals by combining personal stories, scientific insights, and practical strategies to foster successful reading development.

Wired Wednesdays: Explore CELA: Your Path to Reading Freedom

Have trouble reading traditional print due to vision limitations or fatigue? CELA (Centre for Equitable Library Access) can be your key to unlocking the joy of reading again! This video will introduce you to CELA, a free service offering audiobooks, ebooks, and braille materials specifically designed for people with print disabilities.

Exhibit Opening: That Which Inspires Us

Drop by The Gallery at L.E. Shore on Saturday, May 4 between 2-4pm for the reception of our May exhibit – “That Which Inspires Us”! Several of the artists will be in attendance and this will be a wonderful opportunity to explore the motivation behind this beautiful collection of work – all while enjoying complementary refreshments and wine.

For this exhibition, four artists have joined together to explore the elements, subjects and scenes that inspire them.

This video explores two fantastic resources for reading: Special decodable books designed to help readers with dyslexia and Ashley will walk you through the built-in dyslexic text in Libby feature to make reading on your screen easier, and explore how decodable books can improve reading skills for those with dyslexia.

This is a second installment of a Tree Talk series offered by Tree Trust TBM a locally based tree-oriented charity. The talk will focus on the many invaluable roles played by mature trees in urban and rural settings. Attendees will learn about why our mature trees are so important and how they are best cared for to ensure a long and healthy life.

Shore Library on Saturday, April 27th, at 11:00 am for a captivating poetry reading featuring Mary Barnes, the talented author of two exquisite collections: "What the Fox Knew" and "Moving Upstream."In her debut collection, "What the Fox Knew" Mary Barnes, drawing from her Ojibwe roots, weaves beautiful poems that possess the unique ability to both calm and awaken. With tempered grace, she elegantly coaxes out the seemingly quiet world we often take for granted, offering a fresh perspective on our surroundings.

TBM Repair Café

On the 4th Saturday of every month (except July, August and December) 9am-noon area residents have the opportunity to bring their broken items to the Repair Café, where community volunteers use their skills to help repair them for free. We also share some social time, with coffee or a nice cup of tea and cookies. This adventure not only brings our community together to help our neighbours, it also lengthens the life of the items repaired/mended, diverts items going to our landfill and saves taxpayers money!

ACC Presents - A Baroque Cello's Journey

The Arts & Culture Council for the Gallery at L.E. Shore are pleased to present a musical evening with cellist Kerri McGonigle. From the first pieces of music written for solo cello, to the height of the Baroque with Bach's Cello Suite 1 and beyond, this is a journey of the music, the Baroque cello and anecdotes in historically informed performance (HIP).

Entry by donation, with all proceeds forwarded to the performer. Registration is required to reserve your seats.

Youth Wellness Series: Find your Balance

Join us for an enlightening journey with the Youth Mindfulness Series, a collaboration between the Blue Mountains Public Library and Inner Yogies Studio. Beginning on Friday, April 8, at 5 pm at the L.E. Shore Library, this specially crafted program, led by Shikha, a seasoned Yoga & Meditation Teacher and Reiki Master, aims to guide youth through a four-week exploration of mindfulness practices.

Attention art lovers!

Five local artists sharing a love of creative expression have joined forces to present an eclectic range of work for The Gallery at L.E. Shore’s April exhibit. Fusion 5 showcases fibre art wall hangings, mixed media sculptures and paintings, large and small, abstract and representational, landscape and portraits. This exhibit is a fusion of talent encompassing a wide range of themes and styles.

Grab a wee bit o'tartan and get ready to enjoy a fun afternoon of Scottish music, dance and song with the Beaver Valley Pipes and Drums as we celebrate Tartan Day.
Tickets are $32 for Adults, $25 for children. Your ticket includes coffee, water and delicious scone.
