The Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation (BMAHC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Sharon McCormick in the role of Executive Director. As Executive Director, Sharon will oversee management responsibilities of the BMAHC while providing strategic leadership to support the creation of attainable housing opportunities in The Blue Mountains.
Rob Sampson Chairperson of the BMAHC states, “We are excited for the future of Attainable Housing in the Town of the Blue Mountains. Sharon is a welcome addition to our team and has a proven ability to effectively engage and partner with community associations and government to support the development of attainable housing. The action of hiring an Executive Director firmly shows that Town Council and the BMAHC are committed to developing attainable housing for the “missing middle” in our community.”
Sharon brings to the role a wealth of experience in attainable housing from her previous work. Sharon was the inaugural Executive Director for Attainable Homes Calgary, a non-profit corporation with a mission to free up rental housing by generating homeownership for middle income earning households as part of Calgary’s 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness. As Executive Director, Sharon built the organization from the ground up, leading and mentoring a high-performance team that was successful in forming partnerships with private industry to generate a pipeline of 1000 housing units.
In speaking with Chairperson Rob Sampson, Sharon stated, “I am thrilled to lead this organization at this pivotal time to provide affordable, secure and safe housing for the much-needed workforce locked out of the housing market in the Town of The Blue Mountains. I am most looking forward to creating strong partnerships with all levels of government, the building and development industry and community builders to find housing solutions that will address the challenges faced by the local workforce and business community and ultimately, fabricate a vibrant and inclusive community for all who live and work here.”
Sharon will join the Blue Mountains Attainable Housing Corporation as the Executive Director on March 2nd, 2020.
