The Town of The Blue Mountains Fire Department would like to emphasize the importance of testing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
At a recent fire incident at a multi-residential building in the Town, only 50% of the units in the building had compliant and properly working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Had this fire occurred during the night the life safety of the occupants could have been at risk.
Please test and check the dates on all hardwired and battery powered devices. The alarms will need to be replaced if they are over 10 years old.
