Notice of Public Information Centre (Virtual)
The Town will be hosting a Virtual Public Information Centre regarding the Victoria Street and Louisa Street area preliminary engineering project. The Public Information Centre will provide an update regarding the findings of the preliminary engineering for the Victoria Street and Louisa Street area and will provide an opportunity for residents to share feedback.
This project is being completed as part of the larger multi-year Thornbury West Reconstruction Phase 1 project which combined the Elma and Alice Street project, and the Victoria and Louisa Street project into one larger project known as ‘Thornbury West Reconstruction Phase 1’.
The engineering for Thornbury West Reconstruction Phase 1 project is scheduled to be completed in two stages:
- The first stage is preliminary engineering which will include various studies and reports as well as the consideration of options for construction. The work completed within this first stage will provide recommendations to help inform and guide the final design. Once the preliminary engineering work is complete, a Public Information Centre is conducted to update and engage residents.
- The second stage is final engineering which will consider the recommendations from the first stage of preliminary engineering, including the comments received during the Public Information Centre. This information will be used through the completion of the design and the management of the construction activity.
Elma and Alice Street Update
Within the project, the first area to be reconstructed is the general area of Elma and Alice Street. The preliminary engineering and the Public Information Centre for the Elma and Alice Street project has been completed. The Elma and Alice Street project is now entering the second stage of the project as detailed above.
Victoria and Louisa Street Update
The second area to be reconstructed is the general area of Victoria Street between Arthur and Alfred and Louisa Street between Bruce and Victoria. The preliminary engineering work has been completed for Victoria and Louisa Streets, and the Public Information Centre has been scheduled as detailed in this notice.
Through combining both projects into Thornbury West Phase 1, the final design and project management responsibilities have been awarded to Tatham Engineering.
The Town intends to issue a construction tender for the Thornbury West Phase 1 project in the Fall of 2021 with construction expected throughout 2022 and 2023.
