Notice- Nominate a Resident for the Ontario Senior of the Year Award

The Town of The Blue Mountains is encouraging residents, local service clubs and community groups to submit nominees for the Province of Ontario Senior of the Year Award.

Established in 1994, the Senior of the Year Award honours one outstanding local senior in each municipality in Ontario. The nominee must be over the age of 65 and have enriched the social, cultural or civic life of his or her community. Seniors who qualify for this award may have contributed to any number of fields such as the arts, literature, community service, volunteering, education, environment, fitness and humanitarian activities.

To be considered by Council, all nominations must be submitted to the Town Clerk by Thursday, April 15, 2021 at noon. Please contact the Town Clerk at the information below for nomination instructions and details.

Council will consider the nominations at the April 19, 2021 Council Meeting (closed session) and will submit the nomination to the Province of Ontario. A certificate will be provided by the Ontario government and presented to the honorary recipient at a future event by Mayor Soever and Council.

“Our community is home to many outstanding seniors who contribute to creating and maintaining the vibrancy and resiliency of The Blue Mountains,” said Mayor Alar Soever. “The annual Ontario Senior of the Year Award is a small way that we can all show our appreciation for the efforts and contributions that these special seniors make to our community. Please consider nominating someone that has made a difference.”
