The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of various operational changes that are being implemented at the Town’s Solid Waste Disposal Site beginning this week.
Hours of Operation
Starting, this Saturday, May 8th, the hours of operation on Saturdays will be extended from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
The new hours of operations will be as follows:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Wednesday: Closed
- Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Friday: Closed
- Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
Curbside Waste Collection
Curbside yard waste collection started this week and will continue until Thursday, May 27th. Residents are reminded that there is a limit of 10 paper bags per week and collection will occur during your regularly scheduled waste collection day. Plastic bags are prohibited for yard waste disposal.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
Starting today, the Solid Waste Disposal Site will resume collection services for household hazardous waste products. The Hazardous Waste Depot will be open until the end of September during regular hours of operation.
Pitch-In Week
Residents are also reminded that spring Pitch-In is underway and litter collection bags are available for pick-up at the Solid Waste Disposal Site. If you wish to use your own bags to collect litter instead, please contact the Manager of Sustainability & Solid Waste for collection assistance.
Battery Disposal
Residents are also reminded to properly dispose of batteries by placing them in a sealable clear bag until battery collection starts in September. Specific battery bags were mailed alongside the Waste Resource flyer to local households in March. If you did not receive a battery bag or if you would like an additional battery bag, they are available for pickup at the Solid Waste Disposal Site.
