The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to inform residents that the Phase 1 Background Papers for the Official Plan Review project are now available on the project webpage and at Town Hall.
Prepared in collaboration with the Official Plan Steering Committee, the background papers provide information regarding key elements of the project, including:
- Vision, Guiding Principles, Goals and Objectives;
- Growth Management;
- Density & Height;
- Housing; and
- Housekeeping Items
The background papers consider important factors such as current Town policies, results from the Official Plan Phase 1 public survey, the Thornbury Density & Intensification study results, industry innovations, strategies of comparable municipalities, and other compiled research data. All of which will be used to help guide the Official Plan Review project forward.
The background papers will also be presented during two in-person Public Information Sessions:
Session #1 Date: Wednesday, June 1, 2022 | Session #2 Date: Saturday, June 4, 2022 |
The Public Information Sessions will include a presentation detailing the opportunities to update and modernize the Town’s Official Plan related to the Phase 1 themes covered in the background papers, followed by a question and answer period. Participants are asked to pre-register to attend the meetings which can be done online by visiting www.thebluemountains.ca/MeetingRegistration.
“We saw an exceptional response to the Phase 1 public survey with 595 responses. I encourage everyone to keep engaged with the project by reviewing the background papers and registering for the in-person Public Information Sessions,” says Councillor Paula Hope, Chair of the Official Plan Steering Committee. “Following the Public Information Sessions, the project will move into the next stage, which includes developing technical amendments to the Town’s Official Plan. These changes will be shared through a future Public Open House and Public Meeting that will be scheduled this summer.”
