ACC Presents: Sikkim - Hidden Gem of the Himalayas

On January 10, Journey to Sikkim with L.E Shore librarian, Ken Haigh, as he describes his experiences as a volunteer teacher in this little-known corner of the Himalayas. All proceeds from this event will be donated directly to the Vidya Sagar Gyanpeeth School where Ken volunteered.

This school is one of a selection of village schools that is supported by the Himalayan Education Lifeline Programme (HELP). HELP is a charity seeking to elevate the effects of poverty in the Himalayas through education. Ken Haigh is a retired teacher and librarian. He has worked at both the Leonard E. Shore Memorial Library and the Collingwood Public Library. He is also the author of Under the Holy Lake: A Memoir of Eastern Bhutan and On Foot to Canterbury, which was a finalist for the 2021 Hilary Weston Writers' Trust Prize for Nonfiction. Ken lives in Clarksburg.
