WHEREAS thousands of women, mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, friends, neighbours, and co-workers are affected by breast cancer every day; and
WHEREAS 1 in 8 women in Ontario will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime; and
WHEREAS the Canadian Cancer Society CIBC Run for the Cure will take place at Blue Mountain Village on Sunday, October 1, 2023 – an annual event that raises funds for vitally important support programs and research to help change the future of breast cancer forever.
WHEREAS Think Pink Week is a way to raise awareness of the upcoming CIBC Run for the Cure, while encouraging local residents to get involved by registering to participate, fundraise in creative ways, or volunteer, all in support of a lifesaving cause that impacts many people in our community.
THEREFORE NOW I, Andrea Matrosovs, Mayor of the Town of The Blue Mountains, do hereby proclaim the week of September 11-15, 2023, as Think Pink Week in The Blue Mountains.
