The Town of The Blue Mountains has identified thirteen sections of watermain that have been classified as substandard and require upgrade. Phase 1 of the Substandard Watermain Replacement Program was completed in 2021, Phase 2 was completed in 2023, and Phase 3 is scheduled to be completed in 2025.

Three sections of watermain have been identified by Town staff as part of Phase 3 for construction in 2025. These sections are:

  • Peel Street South from Highway 26 to Baring Street
  • Baring Street from Peel Street to Alice Street
  • Alice Street West from Baring Street to Lansdowne Street/Beaver Street

The construction tender for Phase 3 was released in mid June, and is anticipated to be awarded in early July. Construction is expected to be completed before the end of October 2025.

Why Now?

The project will improve water movement, firewater flow, reduce opportunities of stagnant water, increase water quality, and provide operational savings.

Project Updates

November 15, 2025 – Watermain connections upcoming

SMRS Construction plans to make connections to the new watermain this week, and will also be completing the directional drilling work underneath Highway 26 to connect to the watermain on Peel Street North. This connection work will result in some temporary water outages for properties in the project area. Written notice has been delivered to impacted properties.
