The Town of The Blue Mountains Names 2026 Volunteer Award Recipients

The Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to highlight the recipients of the 2026 Volunteer Recognition Awards, which celebrate individuals and organizations whose efforts have made a meaningful impact across The Blue Mountains. 

The awards were presented as part of National Volunteer Week at the Town’s annual Volunteer Fair and Recognition Awards, held on April 22, 2026, at the Beaver Valley Community Centre. The event brought together local organizations and residents to celebrate volunteerism, connect with community groups and recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to The Blue Mountains. 

The following individuals and organizations were honoured through the 2026 Volunteer Recognition Awards: 

2026 Volunteer Recognition Award Recipients: 

  • Arts and Culture Award: Beverley Smith 
  • Heritage Award: Beaver Valley Agricultural Society 
  • Sustainability Award: Bruce Harbinson 
  • Sports and Recreation Award: Denise Remus 
  • Blue Mountains Community Builder (Youth under 26): Camille McKinnon & Harry Halton  
  • Blue Mountains Community Builder (Adult 26+): Maureen McDonnell 
  • Outstanding Community Group Award: Events for Life & Georgian Bay Loves Jamaica  

“National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize the individuals and organizations whose contributions help make The Blue Mountains such a strong and connected community,” said Andrea Matrosovs. “The time and energy our volunteers generously give plays a vital role in shaping the character and quality of life in The Blue Mountains for residents and visitors alike.” 

The Town extends its congratulations to this year’s award recipients and its appreciation to all volunteers whose contributions continue to strengthen The Blue Mountains community.
