WHO MAY VOTE?
Any person who on election day (October 26, 2026) meets the following qualifications is eligible to vote:
- Is a Canadian citizen;
- Is at least 18 years old on election day;
- Resides in the municipality or is the owner or tenant of land in the local municipality, or the spouse of such a person;
Non-residential commercial or industrial property electors are not entitled to vote for school board trustees but are entitled to vote for other municipal offices or questions. - Any person not prohibited by law from voting.
WHAT SCHOOL BOARD DO I VOTE FOR?
Electors are entitled to vote for school boards if their qualifying property is residential. Each eligible elector may vote for school representation once in a school board jurisdiction.
The following is a list of the School Boards for which qualified electors will be entitled to vote unless there are acclamations.
- Bluewater District School Board (anyone can support)
- Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board (must be Roman Catholic)
- Conseil scolaire Viamonde (must have French Language Education Rights)
- Conseil scolaire catholique Providence (must be Roman Catholic and have French Language Education Rights)
VOTERS’ LIST INFORMATION
Until August 12, 2026, voters are encouraged to confirm, register or amend your voter information via Elections Ontario, www.RegisterToVoteON.ca.
From September 1, 2026, to October 26, 2026, voters may contact the Town of The Blue Mountains, Clerks Office to confirm, amend or be added to the Voters’ List.
INTERNET & TELEPHONE VOTING
There will be no advance poll or proxy voting, as both Internet and Telephone Voting allow voters to cast a ballot anytime between Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. Voter Information Letters will be mailed to electors at the beginning of October and will include voter credentials and instructions on how to vote.
During the Voting Period, October 16, 2026 to October 26, 2026, the Election Help Centre will be available in the Town of The Blue Mountains, Town Hall. At the Election Help Centre, Electors can:
- Ask questions
- Register to vote
- Receive voting assistance or vote independently
