WHO MAY VOTE?
Any person who on election day (October 26, 2026) meets the following qualifications is eligible to vote:
- Is a Canadian citizen.
- Is at least 18 years old on election day.
- Resides in the municipality or is the owner or tenant of land in the local municipality, or the spouse of such a person.
- Any person not prohibited by law from voting.
VOTERS’ LIST INFORMATION
From September 1, 2026, to October 26, 2026, Electors may contact the Town of The Blue Mountains, Clerk’s Office, to confirm they are on the Voters’ List, amend their information, or be added to the Voters’ List.
An online tool is also available on the Town’s website for electors to confirm that they are on the Voters' List, register to be added to the Voters’ List or update their information.
WHAT SCHOOL BOARD DO I VOTE FOR?
Electors are entitled to vote in the school board election, if their qualifying property is residential. Each eligible elector may vote for school representation once in a school board jurisdiction.
The following is a list of the School Boards for which qualified electors will be entitled to vote unless there are acclamations.
- Bluewater District School Board
- Conseil scolaire Viamonde (must have French Language Education Rights)
- Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board - ACCLAIMED
- Conseil scolaire catholique Providence – ACCLAIMED
WHAT DEVICES CAN I USE TO VOTE?
Voters can use any device that connects to the internet, including computers, tablets and smartphones. Voters can also use touch-tone telephones. Rotary phones may not be used. There will be no paper ballots for this election.
WHAT DO I NEED TO VOTE?
Voters need to have a Voter Information Letter in order to vote. This will be mailed to you in October.
This letter will have your instructions and your unique Personal Identification Number, required to log on to the internet election site or the telephone election platform.
METHOD OF VOTING
The Town of The Blue Mountains is using Internet and Telephone Voting for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election. There will be no advance poll or proxy voting as Internet/Telephone Voting allows voters to cast a ballot anytime between Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. and Monday, October 26, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. An Election Help Centre will be available in the Town Hall, 32 Mill Street, Thornbury, during the voting period, and during the extended hours as noted below:
- October 16, 2026 – 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- October 17, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- October 19, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- October 20, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- October 21, 2026 – 9: 00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- October 22, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- October 23, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- October 24, 2026 - 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- October 26, 2026 – 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

- Ask questions
- Register to vote
- Receive voting assistance
- Vote independently
