The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of Canada Day celebrations across the Town and upcoming service changes due to the Canada Day Holiday.
Canada Day Events
There are a variety of events happening in The Blue Mountains for the Canada Day holiday. The annual parade will begin at 11:00 a.m., travelling from Clarksburg to Thornbury. Clarksburg will be hosting a pancake breakfast at the Royal Canadian Legion, along with live music and face painting. Thornbury will have music, face painting and birthday cake at noon. Over at Blue Mountain Village, the fun continues all day with roaming entertainment, interactive activities, and live music, ending with a fireworks show at the base of Smart Alec at 10:15 p.m. A full list of event details is available at www.visitbluejuly1.ca.
Road Closure
Bruce Street South (Grey Road 13) will be closed between Louisa Street and Highway 26 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1.
Town Hall
Town Hall will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Town Hall will re-open with regular hours on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
Waste Collection
Curbside waste collection will occur as usual on Wednesday, July 1, and for the remainder of the week. Please note that the Landfill and Recycling Depot will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Operations staff have provided additional reminders regarding collection:
- Weekly bag limit: Three bags - the first garbage bag is free, the second bag requires one tag, and the third bag requires two tags. Each tag costs $5.00.
- All garbage, organics and recycling must be on the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day and no earlier than 7:00 p.m. on the day prior (subject to fines).
- Oversized cardboard is to be flattened, cut into 18" x 24" pieces and placed next to your recycle boxes.
- Ensure the Full/Empty tab is tethered to your stationary waste box and fully visible to the collection crew.
- Landfill and Recycling Depot Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Landfill & Recycling Depot will be closed on all statutory holidays.

The Blue Mountains Public Library
The Blue Mountains Public Library (173 Bruce St. South) and Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum and Archive (113 Lakeshore Road E.) will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The Library and Depot will re-open with regular hours on Thursday, July 2. During this closure, we invite you to explore our digital collections, databases and online exhibits anytime by visiting www.thebluemountainslibrary.ca.
Water Use Restrictions
Please note that as of June 1, 2026, Stage 1 Water Use Restrictions are in effect. Residents are permitted to water lawns between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. on designated days, with odd-numbered addresses permitted to water on odd-numbered calendar days and even-numbered addresses on even-numbered days.
