The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents of upcoming service changes due to the Labour Day Holiday. 

Town Hall

Town Hall will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026. Town Hall will re-open with regular hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

Waste Collection

Curbside waste collection will occur as usual on Monday, September 7, and for the remainder of the week. Operations staff have provided additional reminders regarding collection:

  • Weekly bag limit: Three bags - the first garbage bag is free, the second bag requires one tag, and the third bag requires two tags. Each tag costs $5.00. 
  • All garbage, organics and recycling must be on the curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day and no earlier than 7:00 p.m. on the day prior (subject to fines). 
  • Oversized cardboard is to be flattened, cut into 18" x 24" pieces and placed next to your recycle boxes.
  • Ensure the Full/Empty tab is tethered to your stationary waste box and fully visible to the collection crew.
  • Landfill and Recycling Depot Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Landfill & Recycling Depot will be closed on all statutory holidays, including Monday, September 7, 2026. 
  • Battery Collection: Single-use household batteries are collected curbside during the month of September. Please place batteries in a clear bag on top of your blue box on your regular collection day. Do not put batteries inside of your blue box.

The Blue Mountains Public Library

The Blue Mountains Public Library (173 Bruce St. South) and Craigleith Heritage Depot Museum and Archive (113 Lakeshore Road E.) will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026. The Library will re-open with regular hours on Tuesday, September 8, and the Depot will re-open on Thursday, September 10, 2026. During this closure, we invite you to explore our digital collections, databases and online exhibits anytime by visiting www.thebluemountainslibrary.ca.

Beaver Valley Community Centre & Arena

The Beaver Valley Community Centre will remain open on Monday, September 7, for private hall rentals. Additional bookings for Monday, September 7, must be made by September 4 at noon to accommodate the holiday Monday.

2026 Municipal & School Board Election

Beginning September 1, during normal office hours and during the following extended hours of operation, Election Staff will be available at the Town of The Blue Mountains Town Hall, to allow voters to confirm that they are on the Voters’ List. 

If you are not on the Voters’ List, and are eligible to vote in The Blue Mountains, staff can add you to the Voters’ List (identification is required). 

Extended Hours of Operation:

  • Wednesday, September 9, 2026, until 7:00 pm
  • Friday, September 11, 2026, until 7:00 pm

All essential services will continue to operate throughout the holiday weekend. Online services are available 24/7 on the Town website.
