Residents are reminded that garbage, recycling and organics must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Additional information regarding curbside collection and solid waste information can be accessed via the Waste Resource Guide or by visiting the Town of The Blue Mountains Website.
Garbage - first bag is free, second bag must be tagged (two bag limit). Bag Tags can be purchased at Thornbury Foodland, Hindles Hardware, Home Hardware, Macs Convenience Thornbury, Circle K, Ravenna Country Market, and The Blue Mountain Convenience/Esso Station.
Recycling – must be sorted into two separate containers and/or clear plastic bags for blue and grey items. Mixed items will not be collected.
Reducing the Spread of COVID-19
- All personal hygiene and sanitary products that would typically be put in the Green Bin, including used tissues, must now be disposed of in the garbage.
- Ensure that all material placed in your garbage is bagged, specifically cleaning products such as wipes, tissues/napkins and other sanitary/hygiene products.
- Place all used gloves, masks and other protective equipment in the garbage – they are not recyclable.
Easter Curbside Waste Collection
Friday April 10, 2020 (Good Friday) and Monday, April 13, 2020 (Easter Monday) will continue to operate as normal and on your regularly scheduled collection day.
Waste Disposal Site (Landfill)
- To ensure social distancing, the Town’s Waste Disposal Site will be closed to the general public until further notice.
- The Waste Disposal Site is also closed to yard waste drop off. Residents are asked to store yard waste on their property until yard waste collection occurs or the site reopens.
Yard Waste Collection
Yard Waste Collection will take place on your regular collection day beginning May 4, 2020 through May 28, 2020. Maximum 10 containers or paper bags per residence per week.
