Notice - Halloween Safety Guidelines & Tips

The Town of The Blue Mountains has partnered with the Grey Bruce Public Health Unit and The Blue Mountains Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment to encourage residents to practice safe Halloween celebrations as the community continues to fight against the spread of COVID-19.

“The Town wishes everyone a very safe and happy Halloween,” says Mayor Alar Soever. “As the province continues to see a rise in cases of COVID-19, we must remain vigilant and ensure we are enjoying celebrations safely and in consideration of public health guidelines.”

For alternative Halloween celebrations, residents and their families are recommended to:

  • Host a virtual costume party or celebration
  • Send a Halloween-themed letter or card to your loved ones
  • Arranged for contactless delivery of spooky crafts or tricks and treats
  • Call or video chat with family and friends instead of attending in-person gatherings

For a unique COVID-19 friendly Halloween twist, the Blue Mountains Public Library is hosting a drive-thru Halloween event on Saturday, October 31, 2020. This event will give every family a chance to trick-or-treat and will run from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For more information, please visit: https://www.thebluemountainslibrary.ca/.

If residents choose to practice trick-or-treating on Halloween, residents are urged to avoid large groups as well as busy subdivisions. Residents are also reminded to practice physical distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands regularly and often and follow the latest Provincial public health guidelines.
