Please be advised that the Grey Bruce Health Unit has declared a a community outbreak in Eastern Grey County, which includes The Town of The Blue Mountains. The cases have been identified as a variant of concern. All residents are reminded that the best way to stay safe is to follow all Provincial and Public Health orders and advice, to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, and to avoid close contact with others outside of your own household.
“This outbreak shows how a few people acting irresponsibly or a single social gathering can lead to a large number of cases,” stated Mayor Alar Soever. “For over a year now, the huge majority of our community have followed all public health advice, and made sacrifices to keep COVID at bay. In spite of the fact that we had large numbers of visitors, we had among the lowest case counts in Grey County and South Georgian Bay.”
“I am deeply disappointed and angered that the reckless actions of a few irresponsible individuals have now put the safety of our community at risk. We are all tired of COVID, but that is no excuse for the reckless behaviour which has let COVID take hold in our community. One can only hope it does not result in any deaths. I ask all residents to double down on their efforts to help keep COVID under control.”
