The Council of The Corporation of The Town of The Blue Mountains passed Borrowing By-law No. 2019-31 on the 15th day of July 2019, pursuant to the Tile Drainage Act, RSO 1990.

TAKE NOTICE that the Council of The Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains passed Borrowing By-law No. 2019-31 on the 15th day of July 2019, pursuant to the Tile Drainage Act, RSO 1990.

AND TAKE NOTICE that any person or organization may appeal by making an application or action to quash the By-law in a court of competent jurisdiction within four weeks after the By-law is passed, being no later than Monday, August 12th 2019.

The Borrowing By-law that was passed is a By-law to raise money to aid in the construction of drainage works under the Tile Drainage Act, RSO 1990. The Tile Drainage Act provides for ten-year term loans from the Province to individuals though their local municipalities.  Through this program, property owners can access loan funding through their local municipality for the installation of tile drainage systems on their agricultural land.

At the time of the passing of the By-law, the maximum available to each individual farmer in one year is $50,000 and this limit is set by the Province of Ontario. The aforementioned By-law sets a limit of $500,000 total for any Tile Drainage Loans through the Corporation of the Town of The Blue Mountains. This By-law updates the current Borrowing By-law, 1989-81 of the former Township of Collingwood, however, no changes have been made to the borrowing limit.

Copies of the complete Borrowing By-law are available for examination during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) in the offices of the municipality located at 32 Mill Street Thornbury, ON and on the website at www.thebluemountains.ca. For further information, please contact the Clerk’s Office.
