The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise the public that starting on Monday, March 23, 2020, the Town will be offering temporary grocery delivery assistance to the Thornbury Foodland grocery store and to Goldsmiths Orchard Market.
“At the bi-weekly Emergency Control Group meeting, the opportunity for the Town to assist the community was discussed,” explained Chief Administrative Officer, Shawn Everitt. “The Towns first and most important priority is the operation of critical and essential municipal services, but at this time, there are a few Town staff members with capacity in their day-to-day operations, and in speaking with local grocery providers Town staff realized an opportunity to offer assistance.”
At the meeting, Deputy Mayor Rob Potter expressed his support for the initiative. “The entire world is challenged with uncertain times right now, and it’s important to remember that we are all in this together and that we will get through this by working together. The partnership between the Town and local grocery providers is a great example of how we all need to support each other and our neighbours during this difficult time.”
In addition to Thornbury Foodland and Goldsmiths Orchard Market, the Town will be offering assistance to other essential community-focused businesses.
