Notice-Town Riverfront Parks and Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Lands Closed for Opening of Fishing Season & Enhanced Patrols and Enforcement

The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that enhanced patrols by the Ontario Provincial Police and Town By-law staff, including foot patrols and ATV patrols, will be happening this weekend at all common fishing locations throughout the Town of The Blue Mountains. Patrols will be focused on anyone trespassing on closed or private properties.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry has not made any decisions to restrict, delay or cancel the provincial fishing season, or restrict access to Crown Land. Similarly, the Town has not implemented any fishing or hunting restrictions. However, a variety of public property closures will impact common fishing locations throughout the Town.

Mayor Alar Soever stated, “COVID-19-related restrictions have caused many common fishing locations throughout the community to be closed.  Anglers should consult the maps noted above, so they are aware of these restrictions before selecting a location to fish”.

“While fishing, Anglers are reminded to be respectful and maintain the appropriate 2-metre physical distancing guideline, and to avoid gatherings of no more than five people”.
