
WHEREAS there are approximately 4,425 people living with Dementia in Grey-Bruce; and
WHEREAS by 2030 this number is expected to increase by 53%; and
WHEREAS the Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce is an organization that serves local families in Grey-Bruce living with Alzheimer's and other dementia diseases while providing education, counselling services and social recreation programs to families living with dementia; and
WHEREAS Alzheimer's Awareness Month is a way to raise awareness of the challenges faced by families in our community, encourage healthy habits like exercise and a nutritious diet for maintaining brain health; and
WHEREAS if you are concerned for yourself or a loved one, it is important to know the warning signs of dementia so you can ensure an early diagnosis; and
THEREFORE NOW I, Andrea Matrosovs, Mayor of the Town of The Blue Mountains, do hereby proclaim January 2024 as Alzheimer's Awareness Month in The Blue Mountains.
