WHEREAS May 17 - 23, 2026, marks the 66th annual National Public Works Week (NPWW), recognized each year to acknowledge the significant impact of public works in our daily lives; and,
WHEREAS this year’s National Public Works Week theme, “Rooted in Service, Powered by Community,” celebrates the vital role public works professionals play in supporting our community; and,
WHEREAS public works professionals are responsible for the infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to public health, high quality of life and the well-being of residents in The Blue Mountains; and,
WHEREAS it is in the public interest for the citizens, civic leaders and children in The Blue Mountains to gain knowledge of and maintain an ongoing interest and understanding of the importance of public works and public works programs in their respective communities.
NOW THEREFORE I, Andrea Matrosovs, Mayor of the Town of The Blue Mountains, do hereby proclaim May 17 - 23, 2026, as National Public Works Week in the Town of The Blue Mountains.
