WHEREAS Safe Kids Week (June 1 – June 7, 2026) is a national awareness campaign dedicated to bringing attention to predictable and preventable injuries in children; and,
WHEREAS transport-related incidents remain a leading cause of injury-related death and hospitalization among children in Canada; and,
WHEREAS this year’s Safe Kids Week theme, Safe Speeds for Kids, highlights the importance of reducing vehicle speeds and creating safer roads for children through awareness, education, road design and responsible driving behaviour; and,
WHEREAS everyone has a role to play in keeping children safe by slowing down, staying alert and exercising extra caution in areas where children live, learn, and play.
NOW THEREFORE I, Andrea Matrosovs, Mayor of the Town of The Blue Mountains, do hereby proclaim June 1 to June 7, 2026, as Safe Kids Week in the Town of The Blue Mountains.
