The Town of The Blue Mountains would like to advise residents that Spring road clean-up and recreational maintenance activities are scheduled to start within the coming weeks to help prepare the community for a busy Spring and Summer season. Seasonal maintenance work is subject to suitable weather conditions.
Spring Road Maintenance
The Roads and Drainage Division will be completing a variety of road clean-up and maintenance activities to ensure that all Town-owned roads and infrastructure are safe for public use following the winter months. Residents are reminded that all road maintenance issues can be submitted online 24/7 using the Town’s Online Service System.
- Street Sweeping & Line Painting: Street sweeping is scheduled to begin once the roads are dry to clear sand and debris left behind from the winter. After the roads are cleared of sand and debris, line painting will follow. Residents are asked to avoid parking on Town roads when sweepers are working in the area.
- Road Grading: Crews will begin to grade gravel roads, where needed, to eliminate potholes, gravel issues, and other surface deficiencies created by the winter weather. Residents are asked to exercise caution when driving on roads that have recently received gravel maintenance.
- Boulevard & Road Sign Repairs: Town crews will conduct inspections in May to repair damaged boulevards and replace damaged signs throughout the community.
Beaches, Parks, Trails and Recreational Facilities
The Community Services Division is busy preparing indoor and outdoor recreational areas for public use. Residents are reminded that all recreation-related maintenance issues can be submitted online 24/7 using the Town’s Online Service System.
- Tomahawk Golf Course: Crews have started to prepare the Tomahawk Golf Course for the 2022 season through regular seasonal maintenance activities. Resident and non-resident memberships for the 2022 season are now available for purchase by contacting the Community Services Department. Memberships will also be available for purchase at Tomahawk Golf Course when it opens in May (pending weather conditions).
- Beaver Valley Community Centre & Arena: With the warmer temperatures, the ice surface at the arena has been removed, and all public skating times have been cancelled.
- Thornbury Harbour: Crews are conducting regular grounds maintenance and have started to repair docks from winter ice damage.
- Beaches, Parks and Trails: Crews have started to conduct inspections of Town-owned beaches, parks and trails throughout the community. Spring clean-up and regular maintenance activities will begin in the coming weeks to prepare the areas for public use.
- Fields & Courts: In mid-April, crews will inspect and prepare all Town-owned tennis courts, pickleball courts, baseball diamonds and soccer fields for public use. Although the fields and courts do not have an official season opening date, residents are asked to wait until the weather improves and until the grounds have dried to not cause damage.
