The Town of The Blue Mountains is proud to recognize Small Business Week from October 19 - 23. Small Business Week celebrates the business owners and employees who contribute to the economy and character of the community.
Small businesses play an important role in supporting a strong, diverse and circular local economy. The Town's business base, including tourism operators, agricultural producers, independent retailers and service providers, contributes to a resilient local economy that enhances the quality of life and appeal for residents and visitors alike.
"Small Business Week is an opportunity to recognize the dedication, innovation, and resilience of our local business community," said Mayor Andrea Matrosovs. "Our small businesses are a driving force behind the local economy, helping to create a strong and prosperous community, which is one of the foundations that makes The Blue Mountains such a unique place to both live and work."
The Town remains committed to supporting local business success through partnerships and programs that provide resources, education, networking opportunities and business development support. Working collaboratively with partners at the South Georgian Bay Small Business Enterprise Centre and local business associations, the Town aims to foster an environment where businesses can grow and thrive. Through the month of October, business owners have joined the Town at the final two “Founders Series” workshops, and Town staff look forward to seeing participants at the workshop and event on October 20.
- October 1: Founder's Series Workshop - Business Planning for Entrepreneurs
- October 9: Founders Series Workshop - Business Financials Fundamentals
- October 20: Building Your Brand with Story - Standing Out When Everyone Sounds the Same, 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM, Bruce Wine Bar

Small Business Week provides an occasion to recognize the many entrepreneurs who contribute to the local economy and highlights the importance of supporting local businesses year-round. The innovation, community involvement, care and customer service provided by local businesses are key to strengthening the local economy.
The Town encourages its residents to celebrate Small Business Week by shopping & dining locally, using local services, and supporting the entrepreneurs that make The Blue Mountains a great place to live, work and visit.
