The Town of The Blue Mountains is now accepting external applications for funding through the Town’s share of the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT).
The MAT funding program is intended to support community-based projects, initiatives, and requests that align with Town priorities, including the Destination Strategy, Corporate Strategic Plan, and Economic Development Strategy, with a focus on delivering benefits for both residents and visitors.
The evaluation criteria reflect the Town’s commitment to using tourism-generated revenues to help enhance public amenities and spaces, support local businesses, and strengthen tourism-related infrastructure, while reducing reliance on additional taxation for residents. By reinvesting MAT revenues locally, the program supports a positive cycle where visitor spending contributes to further economic activity and sustainable community growth.
“This new funding program will help ensure that MAT revenues are invested in a way that strengthens our community, supports the visitor economy, and delivers value for residents,” explained Mayor Andrea Matrosovs. “Council’s evaluation criteria supports a consistent, accountable approach to funding decisions and will help applicants understand how proposals will be assessed.”
