Background Information regarding National Nursing Week
National Nursing Week increases awareness of the many contributions of nursing to the well-being of Canadians. Celebrated annually, the event takes place from Monday to Sunday of the same week as Florence Nightingale’s birthday on May 12.
This year’s theme is We Answer The Call (#WeAnswerTheCall) and was developed by the Canadian Nurses Association (CNA) to showcase the numerous roles that nurses play in a patient’s health care journey, with the pandemic bringing to light the courage and commitment that nurses work under every day and the crucial role that nurses play in the community.
