The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to support the launch of Tree Trust’s Tree Trail, an interactive experience inviting residents and visitors to explore Thornbury’s urban forest and discover the stories behind six notable trees in the community.
Participants can explore Thornbury at their own pace, visiting six trees that have been selected for their unique character, history and contribution to the community. Each tree features a plaque with a QR code that can be scanned to access an audio story told from the tree’s perspective.
The Tree Trail combines outdoor exploration, local storytelling and digital technology to provide a unique way to learn about the trees that help shape the heritage and character of Thornbury.
An online map is available on the Tree Trust website to help participants locate the six Tree Trail trees. Visitors can explore the trees in any order and are welcome to visit as many as they wish.
How It Works
- Visit one of the six Tree Trail locations in Thornbury.
- Look for the Tree Trail plaque located beside the tree.
- Scan the QR code on the plaque using a mobile device.
- Listen to the tree’s story and learn about its place in the community.
- Continue exploring the other Tree Trail locations at your own pace.
The Tree Trail is designed for people of all ages and offers an opportunity for families, visitors and nature enthusiasts to connect with the natural environment while learning more about Thornbury’s trees and local history.
