Summer Reading Club Meet-Up at Bayview Park

Every Tuesday in July, you can meet us at one of our local Town of The Blue Mountains parks as a part of BMPL's Summer Reading Program.

Register each week to pick up your Summer Reading Club Take and Make Kit, bring your SRC reading journals and bookmarks, and track your reading!

Can't make it to Bayview Park this week? No problem! Pick up a Take and Make kit at the L.E. Shore Library while supplies last! Remember to track your reading and visit us at the library to submit your SRC bookmarks for your chance to win super fun prizes all summer long! Adventure Awaits.

Teen Lit Kit

When

On the first Tuesday of every month, BMPL will release a super fun Teen Literacy Kit. Each kit will contain a book, colouring sheets, goodies, and more! Every month will be a different surprise theme.

The best part of this program... it's 100% free! All you need is your BMPL library card.

Lobsterfest

On behalf of the Grants and Donations Committee, The Town of The Blue Mountains is pleased to announce that over 350 tickets have been sold for the annual Lobsterfest event happening July 2, during Canada Day Weekend at the Beaver Valley Community Centre.  

Patron Picks: Summer Reading Challenge

Looking for a good read but want to try something new? Read a great new book and want to tell the world?
Participate in Patron Picks, our Summer Reading Challenge for Adults!
Visit our Patron Picks book display, featuring recommended favourites from library readers.
You can recommend a book by finding the title and adding it to the display. Then pick up a new book to try!
Read 5 Patron Picks and be entered into our Prize Draw.

Meditation Workshop

A introduction to Meditation workshop. Everyone is welcome to this 5 week workshop. Drop-in welcomes but we encourage you to register in advance. Even if you can only make one session, sign up!

Meditation for Teens

A five week meditation course for youth, free of charge.

Week 1: Introduction to meditation and the benefits~decreased anxiety and stress, increased focus, strengthened memory and feelings of confidence and joy.
Week 2: Exploring various meditation techniques
Week 3: Creating an at home practice
Week 4: More techniques to increase resilience, patience and kindness
Week 5: Long, deep guided meditation.

No experience or equipment needed.

Seniors Exercise at Library

We are thrilled to bring back our popular Seniors Exercise class in-person! Sitting or standing, no matter your ability. Improve your fitness and balance and join Denise for a weekly exercise class for seniors! Help keep your body moving with some easy stretches and aerobics. Every Wednesday at 10am. Pay by donation. Please register by emailing libraryprograms@thebluemountains.ca

We encourage all participants to keep distance and wear a mask.

Kids Clubhouse After School Program

Our afterschool Kids Club is returning to IN-PERSON beginning Tuesday, May 3rd.
Every Tuesday, meet us in the Gallery at the L.E.Shore Library from 3:30 - 4:30 pm for games STEAM activities, arts & crafts, and lots of FUN.

Ages 8 and up. Free Program. Registration required. Spaces are limited.

Computers, iPhones, Android, Tablets, Emails, Passwords, Google, Microsoft - there are so many things to learn!

Do you need some help with your computer, phone, or tablet? Do you wish someone could sit down with you and show you how to use computer software or answer your questions? Now is your chance to register for one on one tech help with an instructor from the Georgian Adult Learning Centre in Collingwood.

Meet at L.E. Shore for 1 hour on Tuesday afternoons. We can even develop a personalized tech program plan for you!

GoVAXX Bus

BEEP BEEP! The #GOVAXX bus is on its way.

The mobile vaccine bus will be administering 1st, 2nd, paediatric, and booster doses in the L.E. Shore Library parking lot (173 Bruce St. S.) on June 28th from 11:00am to 7:00pm.

Homeshare Sunday

A service about a housing alternative for the Town of Blue Mountains. Most older people prefer to live in their own homes but loneliness and upkeep of homes and yards are real issues. Home sharing could be a solution. Information on Homeshare will be part of the Sunday worship service. There will be time for question and answer.

Speaking of Wildlife at the Library

Join us as we kick off Summer Reading Club 2022 with Speaking of Wildlife.

Speaking of Wildlife is a Wildlife Education Centre that gives permanent sanctuary to non-releasable Ontario Wildlife; many of their animals have been injured, orphaned, abandoned or illegally kept as pets and were unable to return to the wild as they should.

Some of these animals will be at the L.E. Shore Library to teach audiences about those that we share our environment with. Meet the animals AND sign up for the BMPL Summer Reading Club! Read books all summer and win great prizes.

Trivia Game Night

Play against each other or play as a group in a weekly interactive online Trivia Game Night! Fill your house with laughter and glee as you answer questions and compete for the top-spot on our scoreboard. Not available on Friday Nights? Don't worry! You'll be able to play Trivia Game Night throughout the week.

Participate through our Facebook page every Friday night at 7:00pm when we share the link to the game. Don't have Facebook? The link to Trivia Game Night is available on the BMPL Event Calendar when it's live.

Multicultural Story Time

June 27th is Canadian Multiculturalism Day, and we are celebrating at the L.E. Shore Library with a very special Story Time.

Jen will introduce and celebrate her heritage by reading fun and engaging stories in Portuguese. Come for stories, songs, and rhymes and learn something new!

Tween Advisory Group

Join the Tween Advisory Group (TWAG) and have your say on The Blue Mountains Public Library's programs and services to Tweens. Experience an interactive meeting where you'll have opportunities to share your thoughts and opinions, try new library programs, and develop new skills. Make, Explore, and Lead with TWAG during an interactive tween-led group meeting.
